Robert McCall is currently offering a unique collection of over 400 paintings, drawings, monoprints, and stone lithographs worthy of an independent museum building or a wing of an existing one. It will be offered to the institution that best recognizes its exciting possibilities, aesthetic qualities and dramatic recording of events in the history of our great nation.
The collection, which spans more than 50 years of the impassioned career of Robert McCall, documents our nation's astonishing space exploration from the early 1950's to the present. It also includes McCall's monumental oil paintings of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor (which have been on loan to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum since its opening), and 25 commemorative stamps McCall created for the US Postal Service. Lastly, this collection includes a substantial body of work that anticipates the future- optimistic and inspiring visions of things to come.
